Who knew a small sticker could make such a difference? Meet the Dabbawallas of Mumbai who proved that a simple sticker, a smart system and some selfless action can benefit thousands of people. The Dabbawallas deliver over 200,000 lunches every day on the streets of Mumbai, and this delivery system has been in operation since 1890. Now, with the addition of a simple sticker entitled ‘share’, people can tag their leftovers if they wish, to go onto someone else in need.
Share My Dabba is so successful it was the centre of a Harvard Case Study, which rated the food delivery system as the equivalent of a six-sigma operation, with only one estimated delivery mistake in every eight million deliveries. This slick food-delivery system has a good mix of head and heart at its very centre.
